Raising IAM NY Conference Funds

Thu Feb 14, 2008, 9:42 AM
Mah' fellah' Deviants:

In my last journal, I explained that I am raising funds to attend the annual conference held by the International Arts Movement of New York, called "Encounter 2008". Their website is [link].

The organization is an outreach to the community which is dedicated to furthering beautiful and true art, in the belief that all good and true things come from God and have positive transforming power. Principles for truth and beauty are given to us in the form of the Holy Bible.

I also explained that I desire to go to represent the organization to which I am a member, Artists Junction International. The website is [link]. Feedback on the website would be appreciated as I'm the only designer at this time (and I'm trying to change that picture of the paintbrush and paints!). We have a very similar vision as IAM in that we too desire to set up gatherings of artists around the US and eventually the world to help with networking for the sake of positive inspiration and encouragement when it comes to art and the spiritual life. We feel that due to the fact that we serve the same God and desire the same things, the two organizations should work together and refer each other. Both of us are open to this possibility but IAM feels that the best way for us to know them is through their conference, which is on February 28th through March 1rst.

Originally I felt I may not be able to go due to costs, and that is when I began raising funds. I still feel that the costs are a challenge, but IAM recently opened the option of having a la carte registration. Therefore I now plan to attend the event on Saturday alone which brings the trip and conference expenses down to $125! The reason this is a challenge is because of how late I found out the importance of attending this year.

If you would like to contribute to this trip, you may do so by donating to Artists Junction International, and SPECIFY: "This is to help Cameron go to the IAM conference in New York to represent AJI".

Artists Junction is a 501 charity which will make your donation tax-deductible (which is nice if you don't like paying for a tax called "privilege to work" ;) )

Here is the link to donate to AJI. It will take you to JustGive.org. Thank you all!

Hi cam!! thanks for dropping by! hope all is well :)
:iconcpg327:
Yep, all is well Chris. Thanks for asking. In fact, things have been really great lately. How are things your way? It'd be fun to get together sometime. What kind of things do you do besides spending time with family and working?
:icondarklightmedia:
glad things have been great for you - hope it continues. We're all doing fine. I don't often do much other than work and spend time with family, do chores, run errands, and occasionally sleep or watch something or play a videogame. Sometimes I hang out with friends. And occasionally I even manage to focus on my personal hygiene! ;)

Yeah - what's you're schedule like? I'd be happy to hang out sometime.
:iconcpg327:
My schedule is class 2-3 followed by work from 5-9 with the time it takes to drive and eat dinner in between on Tuesdays and Thursdays, then on Mondays and wednesdays its class from 2-6:30. Fridays I have off and work 2-9 every other saturday. Wednesdays after class I do indoor climbing in Annville. Fridays I might choose from more climbing, learning salsa dancing, laser tag, or whatever else, and that other ever other Saturday is improvised. Sundays is the same but I've been missing church for a while and hopefully tomorrow I'll be awake and able to attend. I guess in the schedule I have homework and studying too :P
:icondarklightmedia:
ya know I've been reviewing that message about your schedule for the whole month so far... and it jumbles my brain. Perhaps it'd be easier if you told me what times/days you always have open, instead of when you're usually booked. Sorry - I'm just really fried right now. That's cool that you do climbing and laser tag sometimes. My arms are no good for climbing, but I played laser tag once and loved it. Hope you have a real good easter. Talk to you soon!
